Mm. No real bombast about the whole Mordu thing, no in-game announcement or reference of any kind to the fact that something's going on, the event itself translates into busywork to get... pretty standard equipment in a moderate quantity? If you can use it, cool. If you can't you won't even be able to try and flog it until up to half a year later.
The Falchions have a high flat ISK value but without vendor liquidation available and the fact the market will be flooded with them... hmm. They're also not a first choice for most HAV pilots.
Further issues: rewards don't seem that well tied to their necessary action. You a Logi and want Logi suits? Get to destroying installations, because Logis routinely use AV weapons in their single weapon slot.
No counter to chart progress bears repeating. Again, there is absolutely nothing to indicate that anything special is going on!
CCP have outdone themselves. |

Forlorn Destrier wrote:Not interested in the rewards? Wait for a different event. The rewards are one of the most minor things actually wrong with the event. My main concern is if CCP don't get it together and learn that they should put more thought into how they can make something of such events, actually involve the playerbase, make it something of note.
Jump certain hoops and we'll give you free stuff is what it boils down to.
Thing is they don't tell you how many hoops you've jumped either. It's a minimalist non-event. |

DUST Fiend wrote:I probably wont get enough installation kills unless neutrals count. Also, Im not sure when this event actually ends, and I havent played much this week. Regardless....why are you bitching again? Its a CHALLENGE for a reason. Im sorry, but ill take around 250 million isk in assets any day. Even selling at a fifth of that price, thats a cool 50 mil for doing what I do every day. I actually like having a hangar full of miscellaneous junk I'll probably never use.
Was heartbroken when they liquidated my stuff. I don't even get assorted dropships, HAVs and LAVs in my salvage anymore...
Would disagree with it being a challenge. It's busywork. Challenge requires there to be a difficult objective with a good chance of failure if you don't step up your game.
It's one saving grace might be making people switch up their approach to play... on the flipside it'll also be diverting people away from playing for objectives, or as a team. The competition for assets is -with your own side-. |

Jump certain hoops and we'll give you free stuff is what it boils down to. Thing is they don't tell you how many hoops you've jumped either. It's a minimalist non-event. You are upset about things that they addressed before the event. They said they knew they didn't have the tech to give the counters, but players wanted something to do. Can't have your cake and eat it too, friend. I'm not concerned about the event, singular, but events, plural.
CCP are exhibiting a poor grasp over how to handle events.
Black Eagles versus the, uh... Something Intelligence Agency? Stolen intel on unethical Gallente R&D? Kind of low key thing really, essentially a test for a lore conflict brought into Dust. Main thing taken away from it is the issue of how despite there being a choice presented you couldn't actually pick a side.
Caldari Prime... This one was actually important or rather could have been. Momentous, a preview of sorts for Dust's interaction with the EVE universe, mercenaries battling on the ground to determine whether the Gallente or Caldari claim the better foothold planetside. Except... same issue as it's predecessor. Make your choice of who to fight for, influence the outcome of the conflict! Just ignore the minor caveat that you can't actually pick which side to fight for.
These issues keep piling up. The Shiigeru crashing on Caldari Prime and the conflict on the surface could have been the preview for battling over districts and fighting a larger battle, giving the impression that, yes, you can see the shape of the larger picture CCP are going for come into view. A greater conflict and one with a sense of place: not fighting this isolated round of a match, fighting for this planet.
And they blew it.
It's not all over, not by half. That was a major turning point that is now lost forever, though. |
